Review of Development Schemes in District Lodhran

•Rs 8.83 million release by the Govt. of the Punjab for the treatment of Livestock during 2008-09 for small Livestock holders.

•Rs. 2.00 million allocation by District Govt. for purchase of veterinary medicine during 2008-09.

•Calf fattening program is in progress by L&DD board (Federal Govt.).

•Three Chilling plants has been provided by provincial Government for distribution in the District.

•New disease diagnostic laboratory costing Rs. 18.85 million being constructed by the Provincial Government.

•Installation of iron cattle crushes costing Rs.1.00 million by District Government.

Functions and Duties of Livestock Department Lodhran

•To diagnose the disease and provide treatment to sick animals at out door in the Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Centers.

•Supply of free medicines to the owners of the sick animals.

•To attend the emergency cases by Veterinary Officers and Veterinary Assistants on the request of farmers at their door steps.

•Prophylaxis vaccinations against contagious and infectious diseases i.e Hemorrhagic Septicemia Black Quarters, Foot and Mouths disease, Pleuropneumonia, Enterotoxaemia etc.

•Pre-flood and post flood vaccination.

•Deworming of large and small animals.

•Collection of Data from field for sustainable livestock farming projects.

•Meeting with Farmers and breeders to provide latest technical information for livestock farming.

•Arrangement of Farmers Day and Cattle Shows.

•To provide Artificial insemination services to the farmer.

· To execute the sanctioned policy of Government.

· To supervise and control the Agriculture Wing of District Government, establish new offices and activate them for better performance within their available resources.

· To establish working relationship and teamwork spirit among Agriculture Extension, Livestock, Water Management, Forests, Fisheries and Soil Fertility Department for the entire satisfaction of the District Government.

· Responsible for efficient administration, discipline and proper conduct of business assigned to the group of district offices.
